Solstice/Dongzhi - Opera and Song of the West and China
On Sunday, December 21, 730pm, we present a truly seasonal event by marking the start of Winter in both hemispheres. The longest night of the year is traditionally a time of entertainment and celebration. In China it is a festival called Dongzhi.
"Solstice/Dongzhi - Opera and Song of the West and China" will be a wonderful way to spend the first frosty evening of Winter.

This one-hour concert is pay-as-you-wish, and so is perfect for families and children.

Happy Birthday, Tchaikovsky!
On Saturday, April 25, 730pm, we present a programme of music by Tchaikovsky and his contemporaries - Rachmaninoff, Mussorgsky, Scriabin, and Rimsky Korsakov.
One of the most beloved composers of all time, Tchaikovsky was born April 25, 1840 according to the Old Calendar. We are delighted to mark his birthday by offering an evening of ravishing music that is adored the world over.
"Happy Birthday, Tchaikovsky!" is pay-as-you-wish. We warmly welcome families and children to this concert.
New Opera Lyra also has the pleasure of spreading the word of an afternoon concert by one of Ottawa's best known classical singers, Carole Portelance.
On Sunday October 5, 4pm, at Rideau Park United Church, Ms. Portelance will be accompanied by eminent Ottawa pianist Jean Desmarais in a programme of Debussy, Britten and Poulenc. This concert is pay-as-you-wish.
